Dry-ish January

The start of a new year always brings fresh inspiration to those that partake in the idea of resolutions. With the turn of the calendar comes ideas of healthier living, exercising, etcetera.

Food and alcohol consumption also gets slimmed down to the essentials. Now that might be salads and water for some. But for those that want to take a bit more of a realistic approach that they can stick to, that could be making smarter more intentional choices. Maybe you opt for a "75 medium" or simply making intentional decisions with what you consume in both the food and beverage department.

If you choose to do zero proof ingredients there are loads of options out there in the ready to drink isles. Whether that be a non alcoholic beer or mocktail. However if you're wanting to make a n/a mocktail at home it's always fun to play with the plethora of options at your fingertips. From juices, to tonics, seltzers, bitters, fresh fruit, infused syrups, you're truly limitless in options in the recipes you can make mocktails with.

I approach mocktails similarly in how I approach cocktails; starting with a 'base' liquid then pairing it with flavors that I think might pair well with each other. It's rather easy to base mocktails on regular cocktails but leave out the alcohol part. Adjusting for volume is the only thing you should keep in mind while mixing.

Mocktails and cocktails are all about preference so adding amounts to taste just like with cooking are the fun of making something yourself.
